Using the wrong microphone can destroy all of your hard work and completely ruin your videos. Each type of microphone has it’s strengths and weaknesses, so it’s important to choose the right one matching the style of video you’re shooting, the surrounding environment and conditions.
Shotgun and Lavalier Mic’s are two of the most popular microphone types and cover the vast majority of production scenarios and use-cases. I carry both in my travel bag everywhere, and recommend a mix of the two to all my clients.
