Whether you have an existing YouTube channel and want to get started with a Podcast on YouTube OR if you want to create a YouTube Podcast channel, this is the guide for you.

Let’s get started.

What Are YouTube Podcasts?

Podcasts have become incredibly popular over the past few years, so it’s no wonder YouTube decided to build out their own YouTube Podcasts feature.

YouTube Podcasts are a great alternative to other podcasting platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.

The biggest difference between podcasting on YouTube versus other platforms like Spotify is that YouTube uses video podcasting. This appeals to a lot of viewers as it can make the podcast feel a lot more engaging!

Another huge benefit of a podcast on YouTube is that you have access to YouTube’s massive active user base – this means it’s great exposure if you’re looking to grow the audience of your existing YouTube channel.

Where Are YouTube Podcasts?

You can access a creator’s podcasts by going to their channel homepage and selecting Podcasts in the top menu. Or you can get to the Podcasts page from the YouTube homepage by going to Podcasts in the left menu bar under Explore.

YouTube has said it will be possible for creators to get their Podcasts featured at youtube.com/podcasts in the near future.

You can also get your podcasts showing in the YouTube Music app which is now available globally.

You’ll see that Podcasts have a special podcast badge that’s visible on the Watch and Playlist page, which is great for helping them stand out amongst the other types of content.

Do YouTube Podcasts Make Money?

There’s a variety of YouTube monetization options you can switch on across your channel which will apply to your YouTube Podcast content as well!

Of course, these are only accessible once you’ve met the minimum requirements and joined the YouTube Partner Program.

This makes Podcasts a great way to increase your income on YouTube.

Can You Check YouTube Podcasts Analytics?

There’s also a great level of analytics in your YouTube Studio. You have access to a lot of the same analytics available on your YouTube videos. So you can check out the views, watch time, average view duration, key moments of audience retention and traffic sources.

This is really powerful and allows you to find out what’s working and what’s not working in your podcasts.

All in all, a podcast on YouTube can be a seriously powerful tool! This feature is still being built-out but we think this is going to be a great addition to your YouTube growth strategy.
